As a licensed professional engineer in Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, and Pennsylvania, Dr. Layton designs and reviews designs for structural steel, wooden structures, snow loads, earthquake loads, live loads, dead loads, buckling failure, shear failure analysis, SkyCiv, as well as other finite-element analysis software.
Past Engineering Projects
Layton has designed and installed steel framing in historic Montana mansions, in public buildings, and in unique specialty residential dwellings requiring special attention to functionality, strength, resilience, and beauty. Layton also has extensive experience performing thermal and thermal fluid analyses for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, specialty electronic control systems, custom MATLAB-based simulation software, GUIs, and web-based applications.
